FAQ

The stuff everyone asks me

What should we wear?

Softer colors and simple textures photograph best: creams, sage, denim, rust, and warm neutrals. Avoid big logos, neon, and tight patterns. Do not fully match. Coordinate instead. Most important, wear something you can crouch in, lift a kid in, and stop thinking about once we start. Send me outfit photos beforehand if you want a second opinion.

What time of day do you shoot?

The prettiest outdoor light is usually early morning or the last hour before sunset. I also know sunset can run straight into dinner, bath, and bedtime. If your child has a hard limit, tell me. I would rather plan a happy earlier session than drag an exhausted toddler through perfect light.

I hate being in photos. Help.

Almost everyone tells me this in the first two minutes. You will not be left standing there wondering what to do with your arms. I will tell you where to stand, what to do with your hands, and when it is working. Most of the best photos happen once you stop thinking about me and start dealing with your kid.

What if my kid melts down?

Then your kid melts down. This is normal, and it is not a problem. I have two little ones. I plan for it, shoot around it, and honestly the “she’s mid-tantrum and mom’s laughing” photo is often the one people frame. There is no version of this where your child ruins the session.

Can we bring our dog?

Usually, yes, as long as the location allows dogs and you bring one extra adult who can hold the leash when the dog is not in the photo. Tell me ahead of time so I can suggest a spot that makes it easy.

How far ahead should we book?

For maternity, family and kids sessions, reach out at least two weeks ahead so we can plan around light, location, and schedules. Birthdays can be booked from the available times on the booking page. Mini Sessions run as dated events a few times a year, and the waitlist hears first. If you are late to the game, still ask. I will tell you honestly what I can do.

How do payments work?

Your deposit is paid when you book, and it applies to your session total. If you do not pay in full at checkout, the remaining balance is due two days before your session. Your confirmation page and reminder email include the balance link.

Is the deposit refundable?

No. The deposit holds your date and comes off your total. If someone gets sick, you can reschedule once for free. With little kids, someone always gets sick.

What if you have to cancel?

If I ever have to cancel because of illness, emergency, or weather that makes the session unsafe, I will reschedule you at no charge. If we cannot find a new date that works, I will refund your deposit.

What if it rains?

We move it. No charge. Golden hour after a storm can be beautiful, so sometimes we get lucky. If the forecast looks messy, I will check in before the session and we will make the call together.

When do I get my photos?

Within two weeks, in a private online gallery. I will text you the second it is ready.

Can I print them myself?

Yes. Every session comes with a print release, which means you can print the included photos anywhere you like. I do not sell print packages, and I will not sit you down for a sales meeting.

Where do you shoot?

Vacaville and across Solano County: Fairfield, Dixon, Davis, Napa, Suisun City, and West Sacramento. I have go-to spots depending on the season and time of day, and I will suggest one. If you have a place that means something to you, we can talk about that too.

Do you photograph newborns?

I do not offer posed newborn sessions right now. If you want simple first-days-at-home photos with the whole family, send me a note before your due date and I will tell you if that kind of session is a fit.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes. Send me a note with the session type and gift amount, and I will set it up directly with you.

How many photos do I actually get?

The number listed on each session is what you get, fully edited. If you want more from the gallery, extra images are $10 each.
